Version 1.0.5

June 15th, 2010 by Share Your Board Team in Uncategorized

We have updated current version to 1.0.5. This is a minor release which however might make a big difference for certain Android phones: v.1.0.5 fixes application hangs and force closures which were experienced by some of our users (in particular Moto Droid owners).

Kudos to Michiel Helvensteijn who helped us tracking down the nasty problem.

We are happy to say that we have released ver. 1.0 of our Share Your Board which is now available on Android Market in ‘productivity‘ section.

Notes:

You can also find us by using search term ‘syb‘ in the Market.

Version 1.0 Release Candidate 4

April 9th, 2009 by Share Your Board Team in Uncategorized

We have released the RC4. In this version there are a couple of new features:

We have fixed the color processing for the cases when a corner of the whiteboard was not captured. If the color correction is enabled it will be filled with white.

The phone should have it’s firmware upgraded to version 1.1 in order to work with RC4.

Force Close

March 14th, 2009 by Share Your Board Team in Uncategorized

We have received a number of complaints that Share Your Board force closes starting from update ’1.0 RC3 r3′. In order to investigate this problem we have introduced a feature which allows Share Your Board to collect the diagnostics and send us a problem report if something has gone wrong. The program also asks user if he wants to send the information and allows one to review what is actually sent, so do not worry: the feature is not going to affect your privacy.

Once the feature was added we started to receive problem diagnostics explaining the ‘force closing’. To make the long story short:

  1. At some point we have used a built-in Android Market feature which locks downloaded application to the phone (copy-protection).
  2. It was shown that this feature does not protect the app enough (e.g: here), so Google found no better solution then ban Android Developer Phones from downloading the copy-protected apps.
  3. We remove the copy protection since we value every user and we do want developers to be able to use Share Your Board. Also we were asked by a few developers if we can help them getting the app.
  4. It turns out that changing the copy-protection state breaks the forward compatibility and there is no workaround for this issue now.

Unfortunately we can not do much about that issue except for proposing the following work-around:

  1. Open Settings on your Android phone
  2. Go to Applications
  3. Go to Manage applications
  4. Find Share Your Board in the list and click on it
  5. Click Uninstall
  6. Go to Android Market, find Share Your Board and install the newest version

Let us know if after applying these steps you are still experiencing problems.

Latest update

March 8th, 2009 by Share Your Board Team in Uncategorized

We have got a message on Android Market stating that: “Latest update force closes constantly”.

We are trying to figure out what could cause such problems; we have not seen anything like this on our devices yet. Unfortuantely the comment does not contain any additional details. Please let us know if you experience the same problems and if you do what is the scenario/error diagnostics.

Update: We have uploaded an updated version which is  able to send a problem report if image processing has failed. We do not send any confidential user data and one would be able to review what is actually sent before filing a bug.

Minor Update

November 13th, 2008 by Share Your Board Team in Uncategorized

We have got lots of feedback within a very short time frame since Share Your Board was released. Thank you all for sending us emails and leaving comments on the market. Our goal is to make the experience as natural and simple as possible, so we will do our best to fix all the issues and further improve Share Your Board.

Most questions we have received fall in one of the two following groups:

1. Back button. Why the application does not quit though I have pressed the back button?

We have fixed this particular issue and the fix is already available via Android Market: please upgrade to Share Your Board ver. 0.9.1

2. Contrast issues. The whiteboard edges were detected and the geometry transformations were smooth, but the image became unreadable after auto-contrast.

Thank you for letting us know, we are looking into this and we are going to release more updates improving the image enhancement algorithms in nearest future. We would  like to strongly encourage you to send us any unprocessed photo samples of whiteboards on which you was not 100% happy with the quality of the Share Your Board work (support [at] shareyourboard.com) .

Android Market Issue

November 12th, 2008 by Share Your Board Team in Uncategorized

We have been told that on some devices Share Your Board is being downloaded and installed automatically in some kind of a cycle. We have contacted Google to resolve the issue with the Market and will publish an update as soon as we will get any feedback.

Update I: We have found a post on Android Market forum describing somewhat similar issue:

http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=7ff38ea23c9b141c&hl=en

This looks a lot like Android issue rather then the app issue and we hope to get feedback from Android Market support soon. We will keep you updated.

Update II: We were contacted by Android Market support team and provided them with all the information they requested, we hope the issue will be fixed soon.
